Moments of the year – The “cupset”
2013 is almost over. It was certainly an eventful year for TSG, one that saw them avoid relegation at the last second. One that saw a goal, that wasn't a goal. achtzehn99.de takes a look back at five moments from the past year.
No. 3 – TSG knock Schalke out of the cup
The day: December 3rd 2013
The time: 22:18 CET
The moment:Full time in Schalke's Veltins Arena. Hoffenheim secure a 3-1 away win. Gisdol's side had travelled to Gelsenkirchen as rank outsiders against the Champions League participants, but a stunning first-half performance with goals from Kai Herdling, Kevin Volland and Roberto Firmino had given TSG a commanding 3-0 lead that S04 failed to turnaround.
The consequence:Hoffenheim have reached the quarterfinals of the German Cup for the sixth time. The draw gave TSG the home tie they desired, as they were pitted against VfL Wolfsburg in the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena. The fight for a place in the semi-finals is on Wednesday, February 12th 2014 at 19:00 CET.
