Mainz match reaction
Markus Babbel: Congratulations to Mainz. We saw a deserved victory for them today. They wanted it more. That was the biggest difference between the two sides today. We weren't awake to the danger. Mainz were dogged, more determined and ran hard. In terms of play, I didn't see too much of a difference but it was the will that proved decisive. We must learn from games like this and do better next week at home against Schalke.
Thomas Tuchel: I am very happy today after an even first half, one where we were fortunate to lead by 1-0 at the break. We played proper football today and the goal after the break gave us confidence. We then played and defended under the influence of that confidence, particularly in the first line of defence. We were dominant and won 3-0. Huge compliments to my team, I'm delighted.
Marvin Compper: We made it too easy for our opponents today. The goals we conceded today make me sick. Our opponents made two, three passes and were in our area. We must work hard and maybe make some changes to our line-up so that we don't concede as many goals. We must fight until the end and react to this.
Tim Wiese: I am unhappy with how we played in the second half. We pushed ourselves to do better after the break and then we conceded a second goal. That cannot happen. I have no idea why things aren't working defensively. We must talk about our mistakes and try to eradicate them.
Andreas Beck: I thought the first half was relatively open. Then at the break, you discuss a few things and have a plan. Then we concede after twenty seconds of the restart and everything is lost. That just can't happen. We didn't have the necessary virtues that we needed to win today.
Adam Szalai: It's a special day for me. I have never scored a hat-trick but the most important thing is that we won three points. I hope this can continue.
