Hoffenheim recruit German international keeper Wiese

1899's manager Markus Babbel made the following statement upon securing Wiese's services: “We didn't want to pass up the opportunity to sign such an experienced, successful and ambitious professional, and we're all delighted that things have worked out. Tim Wiese has managed to break into the national team; that says it all about how good he is. I have no doubt that he will be a key factor in this club achieving its goals in the future.”

Born in Bergisch Gladbach, Wiese began his professional career in the then third division with SC Fortuna Köln, before transferring to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2002. He then made the move to Bremen in 2005. His honours include winning the German Cup with Werder in 2009, a runners-up medal in the UEFA Cup the same year and finishing 2nd in the Bundesliga in 2006 and 2008. In 2012 he was also presented with the Lorbeerblatt (Silver Bay Laurel Leaf) in recognition of his sporting achievements.

He has amassed a total of six caps for the German national team, and helped it finish in 3rd place at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He also made 13 appearances for the German U21 side.
