Baumann: "It wasn't good enough from us"
Oliver Baumann: "It is a wasted evening. We found few solutions and were reacting a lot. In addition, we conceded a horrible goal at the back. St. Pauli are very good defensively; then it gets brutally difficult when you're behind. It wasn't good enough from us today. For the conceded goal, Tom and I had different ideas. It turned out badly. The clouds over Hoffenheim are now very dark. We had produced some slightly better performances in recent weeks, but it was not good today. We knew that it would be tight in the table for a long time."
Christian Ilzer: "We of course wanted to avoid St. Pauli getting closer to us. We didn't manage to increase the gap. We scored the goal that we conceded ourselves and with that in mind, the defeat is fair. We did not manage to find solutions. We did not become dangerous until the closing stages at the earliest. Every cross and every set-piece for St. Pauli was more dangerous. We conceded the goal far too cheaply and then it gets extremely difficult away to St. Pauli and the defeat is deserved. It will be a difficult season until the end. We have to demonstrate week-in, week-out that we can perform in pressure situations. Regardless of who the opponent is."
Alexander Blessin (FC St. Pauli coach): "This atmosphere sets the Millerntor apart. We were pushed unbelievably by the fans today. We didn't perform badly, even if we did go into the game feeling apprehensive. Philipp Treu did really well for the goal and kept his cool. Before that, we played backwards too often and made the opposition strong. But there wasn't any point where we were all at sea. There were a lot of incoming balls in the last 10 minutes too, but there were no real chances. We wanted to be solid and we did that well. It's nice we kept a clean sheet and can get ahead with three points on Friday evening. However, we have to stay calm. There are still a few points up for grabs."
