Tom Bischof set to leave TSG Hoffenheim and move to FC Bayern

Tom Bischof will leave TSG Hoffenheim after 10 years with the Bundesliga club and join German record champions FC Bayern Munich at the beginning of the 2025/2026 season. Bischof's contract in Kraichgau was set to run until 30 June 2025.

"It's no secret we would've loved to extend Tom's contract beyond 30 June of this year. He's a textbook example of the traditional Hoffenheim approach and the outstanding development work in our academy from the juniors to the professional squad. Over the past few weeks, we have repeatedly had very good and, above all, trusting discussions with Tom, his parents and his team of advisors. These joint talks were always characterised by great openness and transparency; both parties knew where they stood at all times," said Andreas Schicker, the Managing Director for Sport at TSG, adding: "We did everything we could to convince him to stay at TSG in the last year of his contract and to outline our future plans to him. However, Tom's rapid sporting development has of course not gone unnoticed by other, very well-known top clubs. In light of this, Tom informed us during the negotiations that he would unfortunately not accept our contract offer but would like to join FC Bayern Munich in the summer. We have to accept this decision and wish Tom all the best in Munich starting next season and are sure that he will give everything for TSG until then so that we can still achieve our joint objectives this season."

"It is not yet time to say a proper farewell because I'm still a TSG player. But one thing is already for sure: the move away from the Kraichgau will be an incredibly difficult one for me emotionally and I will never forget TSG and above all the people at this club and will always carry them in my heart," said Tom Bischof, who continued: "I joined the TSG Hoffenheim academy at the age of 10 and enjoyed an incredibly good footballing education there, which led me to make my professional debut in the Bundesliga and the Europa League at TSG. I've now decided to leave TSG in the summer, but I will be eternally grateful to the club. When the time is right, I'll go into more detail about my decision – but for now, my full focus is on TSG Hoffenheim. And until the summer, I will definitely do everything I can to ensure that TSG stay in the division at the end of this season."

Tom Bischof moved from his youth club TSV Amorbach to the TSG Hoffenheim academy at the age of 10, in July 2015. The now 19-year-old midfielder progressed through all the youth ranks at the club and made his professional debut on 19 March 2022 in TSG's Bundesliga match at Hertha BSC (3-0 defeat) – at the age of just 16 years and 264 days, making him the third-youngest Bundesliga player in history. Since then, Bischof has made 53 competitive appearances for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the Europa League (2 goals / 5 assists). In 2024, Bischof received the "Fritz Walter Medal" in gold for being the best player in his year group.

The current Germany U20 international has progressed through all the youth ranks of the German Football Association (DFB) from U16 level onwards and was recently even invited to play for U21 national coach Antonio Di Salvo's team, which he had to withdraw from on account of injury.
