Geiger: "We cannot sugarcoat it"
Dennis Geiger: "It's the way we played that bothers me the most, especially in the first half. You can't explain any of it tactically; we're simply lacking individually everywhere at the moment. When things are not working, they're not working, but then you have to leave everything on the pitch. I don't have the feeling that was the case for everyone today. We're in the middle of a relegation battle, we cannot sugarcoat it. There's nothing else at stake for us. I hope we give a different account of ourselves on Saturday, because otherwise it will be difficult for us."
Kevin Akpoguma: "We very clearly deserved to lose. You could see that Bayern are title contenders. We had high hopes for ourselves today but didn't do what you need to on the pitch against such an opponent. It felt like the game was already over after 30 minutes. We made too many mistakes and Bayern punished us ruthlessly. You can always give everything and fight, but that wasn't the case today. We just chased the ball and lost it too quickly. We also defended badly. We have to put this game behind us very quickly; we have an important match coming up on Saturday. A few players are currently at their limit. We have to get through this. Recover, clear our heads, that's all we can do at the moment. We can read the table; we have far too few points to our name."
Christian Ilzer: "The victory is highly deserved. You can lose 5-0 here, but we need to hold an intensive discussion about the manner of it. Bayern are certainly not our yardstick in our current form, but we still have to perform differently. That's why the defeat hurts. We have an important game in Kiel in three days' time. We're not going to destroy each other; rather, we want to get out of this situation together."
Vincent Kompany (FC Bayern Munich coach): "We created chances for ourselves and showed enthusiasm for the game. And the players showed how hungry they are. That was good, but it has to continue. We have a lot of good players, but it wasn't always easy. We had a lot of respect for Hoffenheim. It's dangerous to say: that suffices. That's never an option for me. But they showed how hungry they are in the friendly in Salzburg. It can keep going like this. You always have to work for it and have respect for your opponents."
