Stach: "We're getting a better and better feeling"

Anton Stach is playing European football for the first time in his career this season. Prior to the clash with FCSB (Thursday at 18:45 CET / Live Ticker at tsg-hoffenheim.de), the TSG player spoke about the special nature of continental competition, his position on the pitch and the importance of taking the lead.

Anton, are you already feeling excited for the next evening of European action?

"I really look forward to every Europa League match. We fought for this last season. You get to test yourselves against the best in Europe. That is something special. We have five points, nothing is already won – but nothing is already lost either. We want to improve our position and give the fans a good home game with three points."

Things looked better against SC Freiburg compared to the previous games. Do you think things will come together soon?

"The time is ripe. We've often been behind recently. When we take the lead, it's a different situation entirely. We're getting a better and better feeling as a team. That helps us because we can implement things better."

Recently, you've repeatedly come close to scoring following set pieces. When will you get yourself on the scoresheet?

"It's frustrating me because it often hasn't worked out recently. Not much is missing. We will continue to work on it as a team. We're taking time in training in order to improve it. It's about increasing the frequency of the scoring chances. I also want to score goals, but ultimately it doesn't matter to me who scores. The main thing is the ball goes in the net."

Diadie Samassékou recently played alongside you. How is that going?

"I'm really pleased that Diadie is playing again. He's doing great. He's very difficult to play against, especially off the ball. He gives me the freedom to be a bit more attacking again. I think we're complementing each other quite well at the moment."

You played in the centre of the back three at the start of the season; now you're back in defensive midfield. Are you happy to return to your position?

"I feel very comfortable and have always said that the No. 6 and No. 8 are my favourite positions. I missed the 'box-to-box game' a bit in the more defensive role. I'm happy that I can help the team at the moment."
