TSG Hoffenheim part ways with Pellegrino Matarazzo

Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim have responded to the current situation on the pitch. Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo and assistant coach Michael Kammermeyer have been released from their duties. Until a successor is announced, Frank Fröhling and Benjamin Hübner will be in charge of training on an interim basis during the upcoming international break.

"The decision was not an easy one, especially as I have had a very good and open dialogue with Rino in the weeks since I took office. However, several factors have now led us to end our collaboration with Rino as head coach. Not only do we currently have too few points in the Bundesliga with nine points after ten games, but the lack of consistency in our performances this season has also contributed to our decision," said Andreas Schicker, managing director of sport, adding: "We would like to thank Rino and Michael for their commitment during their time at TSG Hoffenheim and wish them all the best for the future."

Pellegrino Matarazzo made the following statement: "Unfortunately, the time has come to go our separate ways. I will always look back on an instructive time that was characterised by different challenges and great moments of success. I am proud to have worked with this team and this coaching team, who were prepared to go through fire with and for each other. I will always be grateful for that. I wish TSG a successful future and our boys maximum success in all three competitions."

Pellegrino Matarazzo has been on the TSG touchline since February 2023 and managed to keep Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga in his first year, leading them to the Europa League last season. However, this trend could not be continued in the current season. In the first ten Bundesliga games under his direction this season, TSG have only managed two wins and three draws. With nine points, Hoffenheim are currently 15th in the table.
