Baumann: "We need to wrap it up beforehand"

Here's what the players, officials and coaches said after the 3-1 victory against VfL Bochum.

Andrej Kramarić: "The three points will do us a lot of good. We played super football and had a lot of scoring chances in the first half; it could have been even better, especially on my part. I could've perhaps scored four goals, but I at least managed to score one goal. That was a good feeling. We made it too suspenseful again, I didn't like that. We need to find a way to bring more composure into our play. Oli Baumann has saved a lot of the penalties he has recently faced. That's something special. Thanks Oli, Germany's No. 1."

Oliver Baumann: "I'm happy about how it turned out, but I'm extremely frustrated that we allowed Bochum into the game and didn't wrap it up beforehand. That needs to be better. We gave away too many attacking moments in the first half and became more passive in the second half. I saw that Andrej pointed towards the corner where the ball was going to go for the penalty. Experience helps as a goalkeeper, I feel good, I still want to move forward and I always want to get better. You're never the finished article. I'm happy and proud that I've been rewarded for my work over many years with my international debut."

Andreas Schicker (Managing director for sport): "It was very good football for the first 30 minutes. From the 70th minute, we dropped back again and the fear settled in. Then it of course became suspenseful. If we show this aggressiveness on the pitch, then the team has a lot of potential. It has a lot of footballing ability. I hope that we slowly move into the upper regions of the table."

Pellegrino Matarazzo: "We played very well in the first 40 minutes. If we had been more efficient, we would've scored four or five goals. It looked really good. We did not make a good start to the second half but still scored the goal that would have made it 2-0. I still don't understand why the goal did not stand. Bochum then got into it more and our spaces became too large. Even though the victory is deserved, the second half still has a lot of potential for improvement. It was an important match that we've won, but to do so we needed Oliver Baumann, who saved a penalty."

Peter Zeidler (VfL Bochum coach): "We knew that we would have to defend very well against TSG, who are very strong in footballing terms. We offered too much space in the first half and made too many simple mistakes. We were lucky that we were not further behind. We made three changes at the break and wanted to perform differently. We unfortunately went 2-0 behind at some point, but we came back and gained the upper hand after making it 2-1. When you win a penalty in the 90th minute, it has to be 2-2. We had the chances to get a fortunate point but we squandered them ourselves."
