TSG sign Austria international Alexander Prass

Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim have signed the current Austrian international Alexander Prass. The 23-year-old left-footed player is moving to the Kraichgau from reigning Austrian league champions and cup winners Sturm Graz. Prass has signed a long-term deal with Hoffenheim.

"I have known Alex since my time as head of the youth academy at RB Salzburg and was able to accompany him during his time at FC Liefering. He is a very exciting player who, despite his young age, has already gained a great deal of experience at both domestic and international level," says Frank Kramer, interim sporting director at TSG, adding: "Alex is a dynamic left-footed player who has been deployed in the Austrian national team by Ralf Rangnick in the past few months, including at the European Championship in Germany, where he played in the left-back position. We also see his greatest strengths in this position and want to continue to develop him in this position. After David Jurásek's serious injury, we had to react and have now optimally filled this gap in the squad with Alex. He has a very good character, is extremely ambitious, hard-working and wants to develop further. We are fully convinced that Alex is a player who will immediately strengthen our team due to his mentality and dynamism. In addition, he is an excellent fit for the team, club and environment."

Alexander Prass received his footballing education in the youth set-up of RB Salzburg and moved to the Austrian first division club Sturm Graz in July 2021. Over the past three years, the 23-year-old has played 90 matches in the Austrian Bundesliga (10 goals / 16 assists), 14 matches in the ÖFB Cup (1 goal / 7 assists), 18 matches in the Europa League (1 goal / 1 assist) and four matches in the Champions League qualifiers (2 assists). Last season, Prass won the double of the Austrian championship and cup with Sturm Graz. In November 2022, the left-footed player made his debut for the Austrian national team and has since won nine caps. At the recently concluded EURO in Germany, Prass was part of Ralf Rangnick's Austria team that made it to the last 16. He appeared in all four matches.
