Kevin Vogt and TSG go separate ways

"Kevin has been with TSG since July and can already almost be described as an institution in our Bundesliga history. He has now made it clear to us that he no longer sees his future in a TSG shirt and that he absolutely wishes to accept the offer from Union Berlin, which is certainly unusual for a 32-year-old player and must be described as enormously attractive. We discussed the situation and the associated consequences and ultimately decided to let Kevin go," explained TSG Managing Director Alexander Rosen, who went on to clarify: "We're ambitious and need players who identify 100% with our objectives and the club. We would like to thank Kevin for seven and a half years during which he contributed to TSG's success."

"I played alongside Kevin myself and value him and his capabilities on the pitch. With that in mind, he continued to play a role in our plans. But when a player pushes for a transfer to such an extent because he sees different prospects for himself at an advanced footballing age, it raises the question of what is best for our club and above all for our team. We've clearly answered this question ourselves and will now approach the upcoming challenges with great confidence," said Pirmin Schwegler, the Head of Professional Football at TSG Hoffenheim.

Kevin Vogt moved to Hoffenheim from 1. FC Köln in July 2016. During his time at TSG, which also included a half-year loan spell with SV Werder Bremen, the defensive player made 193 appearances in the Bundesliga, four in the Champions League, two in Champions League qualification, 11 in the Europa League and 16 in the DFB-Pokal.
