A major joint project full of energy

Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim and business team partner MVV Energie from Mannheim have agreed on a major joint sustainability project. A fast-charging infrastructure for charging electric vehicles will be installed at the outermost row of car parks at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim and will enter into operation in the summer of 2024. Mannheim-based energy company MVV has been TSG's energy partner for many years, supplying the club's facilities and properties with environmentally-friendly energy and operating the biomass heating plant at the PreZero Arena.

"TSG and MVV are now united in another exciting project. Both partners not only have strong roots in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, but are also successful further afield and stand for clean energy and sustainable innovation," says Denni Strich, managing director of TSG Hoffenheim. "We are delighted that we have now been able to further intensify our long-standing and successful partnership."

Energy partner MVV, which has concluded the agreement to expand the electromobility charging infrastructure in addition to the current business team partner agreement with TSG, is also looking forward to the joint project, as chief sales officer Ralf Klöpfer emphasises: "Our green mobility network, especially in the fast-charging sector, is growing continuously in Mannheim and the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. We are delighted to be able to realise this long-planned innovative project with our long-standing partner, TSG Hoffenheim. From summer 2024, all e-mobilists and TSG fans from near and far will be able to charge their vehicle batteries at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim in just a few minutes."

TSG and MVV are taking advantage of the project's special location directly on the A6 motorway and next to a Bundesliga arena: the ideal location for the charging infrastructure for charging electric vehicles. It is an investment in the future: for the duration of the contract, until 2038, the infrastructure will be set up with six charging points (each with a maximum charging capacity of 300 kilowatts) - with the option to build four more charging points.

The charging park will not only be accessible to visitors to the PreZero Arena. It will be open to all drivers 24/7 and can be reached directly from the motorway via the exit to the stadium. The fast-charging park is being developed as a turnkey project by MVV subsidiary Regioplan GmbH. "In the design, we attach great importance to a high quality of stay. The charging park is also intended to generate enthusiasm for TSG and the topic of football - so it will be interesting to see what location concept awaits customers," says Daniel Jung, Managing Director of MVV Regioplan GmbH.

With around 6,300 employees, MVV is one of the leading energy companies in Germany and therefore the ideal partner for TSG in this field. The company works in all stages of the energy value chain - from generation, trading, distribution and proprietary grids to sales and services. As a pioneer of the energy transition, MVV is focused on expanding renewable energies and increasing efficiency. MVV offers a wide range of products and services for an environmentally friendly and sustainable supply to private customers and business customers from industry, medium-sized companies and the housing sector, as well as municipal partners.
