Breitenreiter: "We trust our process"
André Breitenreiter on…
…the opposition: "Wolfsburg are currently doing very well. The team has great quality. They sold themselves short at the beginning of the season, but they have now internalised their coach Niko Kovac's system of play and are in very good form."
…the match on Saturday: "We would like to head into the break with a successful result. That would give us a good feeling. We've analysed our mistakes and want to defend better on Saturday."
…the upcoming break: "Football is always very fast-moving. If we win on Saturday and play good football, we'll be looking forward to the break. For me, it's important that we train well every day. We trust our process and the team."
…the results in recent matches: "The team have impressed in many matches this season and even in recent games, not everything has been bad. Our opponents were enormously strong, and we made too many errors. Then it gets difficult against teams that are above you."
…his overall assessment: "We still have three matches in the first half-season to go. But our focus is first on the game this weekend, before we then start analysing. We have some long-term injury absentees; Ihlas Bebou, for example, hasn't played a game for us yet. We need patience with the young players. We've set out to grow closer to the fans and want to play attractive football. We're working on it and are on a good path. A process like this doesn't always go smoothly."
…Grischa Prömel: "Grischa is very positive. He was at the training premises yesterday. Only the bone is affected, the ligaments are unscathed. The doctors anticipate an absence of four to six months."
The personnel situation:
Ihlas Bebou, Munas Dabbur, Benjamin Hübner and Grischa Prömel are still sidelined, while Sebastian Rudy and Stanley Nsoki could miss out due to illness.
The opposition's form:
Wolfsburg are now unbeaten in seven Bundesliga matches (four wins and three draws). Coach Niko Kovac's team have picked up 15 points since October – a tally bettered only by FC Bayern Munich (19) and RB Leipzig (17).
Head-to-head record:
In recent times, clashes with the Wolves have been happy occasions for TSG. Hoffenheim have managed to win each of their last three meetings. But all in all, Wolfsburg have the better head-to-head record with 12 victories and nine defeats, while there have also been seven draws.
