Kabak bolsters the TSG defence
"Ozan is a powerful defender who makes a strong impression with his tough and energetic tackling. In addition, he is quick and is excellent in the air, which means he also poses a real threat from set-pieces. Despite his young age, Ozan has already experienced some ups and downs that have made him grow into a mature personality," said TSG director of football, Alexander Rosen, about the new signing. "I already said at the end of last season that we wanted to bring in some more quality for our defence. I am convinced that in Ozan we have found a player who will do us real good, both in terms of football and character.''
Kabak, who completed the obligatory medical check on Friday, made the following statement upon signing his contract: "I am very happy about my move to TSG. Hoffenheim are one of the most exciting clubs in Germany and have an excellent reputation, especially when it comes to successfully developing young players. I'm excited about the squad and the chance to work with the new coaching team. I'm delighted to be able to get down to work right away.''
In the summer of 2019, Kabak, who came through the youth set-up at Galatasaray, moved from VfB Stuttgart to Schalke 04. In January 2021, he joined Liverpool on loan. Another loan to the Premier League followed last season, this time to Norwich City. At just 22 years of age, the 17-cap Turkey international can already look back on a wealth of international experience. In addition to 55 Bundesliga appearances with six goals and one assist, he has also played in 20 top-tier games in England, 14 Süper League games in Turkey and eight Champions League games. He has also made several domestic cup appearances in the various countries he has played in.
