Gaćinović joins AEK Athens
"We decided together with Mijat in the winter to loan him out, as our squad situation meant he was not getting the playing time he'd hoped for. He then had a very good six months in Athens. Panathinaikos won the cup and Mijat played himself into the spotlight in Greece," said director of football Alexander Rosen. "We now wish him all the best for the future, because we've always regarded Mijat as a great team player."
Gaćinović moved to the Kraichgau ahead of the 2020/21 season from league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt as part of a swap deal involving his future team-mate Steven Zuber. He made 27 appearances in the Bundesliga, four in the DFB-Pokal and seven in the Europa League (one goal) for TSG Hoffenheim.
