Hoeness: "We want to keep the momentum going"

Three days after the spectacular 3-2 victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach, TSG Hoffenheim will travel to SC Freiburg for the Baden derby. Head coach Sebastian Hoeness spoke at the press conference before the game with Freiburg about the personnel situation, the opposition and the win against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Sebastian Hoeness on …

… the win against Gladbach: "It was a great evening with an important victory that did us good. We didn't give up and continued to believe in ourselves. In the second half, we got what we deserved. We want to build on that and pick up points in the next games too."

… the personnel situation: "Not much has changed. Our long-term injuries are still out. Sebastian Rudy, Marco John, Kevin Akpoguma and Mijat Gaćinović will not make Saturday's match. Diadie Samassékou suffered a slight foot injury, so we will have to wait and see, as we will do with Kevin Vogt, who trained with the team again."

… the opposition: "Freiburg are a very tough opponent and very strong on the counter-attack. They didn't have a game during the week and will be fresh. The team had two little periods this season when they weren't so good, but they have come through them and can now attack the top of the table again."

… the match on Saturday: "With the performances from the last three games, we are on the right track. That has also brought us some points. Against Freiburg, we need the qualities we have shown in last few games. We need to be ready and alert straight away. We want to keep the momentum going."

… the quarantine training camp: "I welcome the decision because it increases the chances that the games will be played and the season can be finished on time."

The opposition’s form:

At the weekend, Freiburg won 4-0 against FC Schalke 04 and celebrated their first victory after two defeats. Coach Christian Streich's are ninth in the table on 40 points.

Head-to-head record:

TSG have lost the last three meetings between the sides. Hoffenheim celebrated their last victory against Freiburg in January 2019. Overall, Freiburg have the better record, with seven wins, nine draws and five defeats in the Bundesliga.
