Season over for Geiger, Stafylidis injured again

Midfielder Dennis Geiger has been working hard towards his comeback since injuring a muscle at the end of December. The 22-year-old suffered a stubborn muscle tendon injury in his thigh before Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim's DFB Cup tie against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on 22 December. Up to that point, the Germany U21 international had made 14 appearances for the Kraichgau club this term, scoring once.

Immediately after the injury occurred, TSG's medical department involved several external specialists in the treatment and therapy process, and the prospects seemed to look good that a conservative approach would allow the player to make a return to the field in the near future. However, after additional problems occurred in the past few days, the decision has been taken for the Mosbach-born midfielder to undergo surgery and as a result he will be not be available to play for the remainder of this season.

Konstantinos Stafylidis, 27, who had returned to team training after recovering from a serious shoulder problem, injured himself without any outside interference while training on Saturday. A thorough examination has revealed that the Greek defender has suffered a fracture of the tibial plateau and will be out for several weeks.
