Hoeness: "Frankfurt are the team of the hour"

At home against fourth in the table: Head coach Sebastian Hoeness spoke at the press conference before the game with Eintracht Frankfurt (Sunday, 15:30 CET) about the personnel situation, the opposition and the match on Sunday.

Sebastian Hoeness on …

… the personnel situation: "It's relatively unchanged. Håvard Nordtveit stopped training today with foot pain. We will have to look at what that means for the weekend. Nevertheless, we have more competition in the squad than in the past few weeks. I'm pleased about that."

… the opposition: "Frankfurt are the team of the hour – they have the most points this year. They play very aggressively and defend well, getting tight to their man. Especially in the past few weeks, they have also improved in terms of the football they are playing. They have individuals with class in the side and are a top team."

… the match on Sunday: "We want to stand up to them and also defend hard. Our aim is to keep them away from our goal. We are always able to create chances. We will show that again against Frankfurt. To take points off Eintracht, we need the proper efficiency. I expect a very intense game. Both teams will play to win. I'm sure the match will be fun for the spectators."

... new arrivals: "I know Chris Richards from my time at Bayern Munich. He's fast, he's good in the air and he can defend hard and get tight to his man. I know he's a good guy and very willing to learn. We are glad that we were able to get him on loan. Georginio Rutter is one of the greatest French talents of his age. We are looking forward to seeing a very athletic striker. He stands out thanks to his finishing, athleticism and speed. Chris is already training with us, Georginio is currently still in quarantine due to the regulations in place when entering the country."

The opposition’s form:

With 16 points from six matches, coach Adi Hütter's team are the most successful club so far this year – a run which has seen Frankfurt climb up to fourth place in the Bundesliga table.

Head-to-head record:

Five games, five defeats – that is the latest head-to-head record for TSG against Eintracht Frankfurt. Hoffenheim have been waiting seven games for a win against the team from Hesse. In total, however, both teams have won eight meetings in the Bundesliga (with seven draws).
