TSG lose heavily to Schalke
Personnel & tactics:
Head coach Sebastian Hoeness made four changes to the starting XI that lost 3-1 against SC Freiburg in their last outing. The back three protecting goalkeeper Oliver Baumann consisted of Melayro Bogarde, Kevin Vogt and Stefan Posch, while Mijat Gaćinović (right) and Marco John (left) started in the wing-back berths. Diadie Samassékou assumed the defensive duties in central midfield, with Christoph Baumgartner and Andrej Kramarić a little further forward. Ishak Belfodil and Ihlas Bebou formed the strike partnership.
TSG made a double substitution in the 61st minute, with Kasim Adams and Sargis Adamyan replacing Samassékou and Belfodil. Bogarde pushed forward into midfield.
Moment of the match:
The opening goal: Alessandro Schöpf used his hand to block a pass from Ihlas Bebou on the edge of the Schalke box, but referee Felix Zwayer waved play on. Schalke quickly hit TSG on the counter-attack and took the lead through Matthew Hoppe just before half-time (43).

Christoph Baumgartner received his fifth booking of the season in the 52nd minute for a foul on Suat Serdar and will now be suspended for next week's clash with Arminia Bielefeld.

Match highlights
Schalke's biggest opportunity so far. Harit races to the byline on the left and cuts the ball back towards Hoppe, whose effort with the outside of his boot goes just wide of the near post.
That should've been the opener. Brilliant play from Bebou, who picks out Belfodil with a lovely pass. The Algerian is clean through on Fährmann but the shot-stopper saves the first attempt and Nastasic clears the follow-up away.
The next big chance for Hoffenheim, who counter brilliantly. Bebou plays it out to Gacinovic, who delivers a lovely cross into the centre towards Kramarić. But despite being unmarked, he is denied by Fährmann from close range.
TSG create a slew of chances but cannot find the back of the net. Kramarić picks out Belfodil in the penalty area, but his strike from a promising position hits the leg of a Schalke player. Samassékou curls the follow-up wide of goal.
TSG are dictating proceedings but are hit on the counter by Schalke. Harit threads through to Hoppe, who chips the ball over Baumann to open the scoring.
Same pattern as before the opening goal: Schalke win the ball back and switch the play again. Hoppe is played in behind and the American rounds Baumann before tapping into an empty net.
Schalke win the ball back. Harit plays the through-ball to Hoppe, who keeps his cool in front of Baumann and scores again.
Oczipka cuts the ball back in the box to the completely unmarked Harit, who is left with a easy finish in front of goal.
