TSG ties top talent Beier to long term contract

TSG Hoffenheim have agreed a long-term contract with youth striker Maximilian Beier. Two days after his 18th birthday, the youngest Bundesliga player in the club's history signed a contract until 30 June 2024.

"Maxi is an extremely talented young player, in whom we have placed a lot of trust for the future," said Alexander Rosen about the attacker who has been part of TSG's first-team squad since last season. "He has great potential and we will give him the time he needs to develop in peace," said the TSG director of professional football, stressing that "Maxi is another prime example of how we do things. Integrating talent from our own academy into the first team squad and developing it there was, is and will remain one of our central pillars".

Making his debut on Matchday 21 in the 2019/20 season against SC Freiburg at the age of 17 years, three months and 22 days, he replaced Niklas Süle (who now plays for Bayern Munich) as the youngest Bundesliga player in TSG's history. In his first season as a professional, Beier made six Bundesliga appearances. In July 2018, the striker moved from Energie Cottbus to TSG Hoffenheim's U17s, where he an instant impact, scoring an impressive 18 goals in 26 games. With his good performances, he also caught the eye of the German Football Association (DFB). So far, Beier has played eight games for the U17s national team, scoring one goal.
