TSG Hoffenheim support additional clubs in the region
Among the donors that have supported the "TSG helps" initiative in their fundraising campaign is the Pforzheim furniture centre. "TSG are sending a great message of solidarity with their Corona relief fund. We felt compelled to support them in their engagement, and we therefore decided not to reclaim the money we'd allocated for advertising services at the PreZero Arena, which could no longer host supporters, and instead donate it to two clubs from Pforzheim that we are very fond of,'' says Ekkehard Haase, managing director of the Pforzheim furniture centre, which has been a TSG partner organisation for a number of years now.
The support fund is made up of salary waivers by TSG Hoffenheim's Bundesliga first team, the coaching and support team and club management, as well as donations from partners, fans, the youth teams and individuals. An independent committee of the club's charity "TSG helps" examines applications on the basis of a set of criteria, which, in addition to regional and social aspects, place emphasis on the values espoused by TSG Hoffenheim, such as the promotion of young talent, education, fairness, health and sustainability.
Clubs and individuals who find themselves in financial trouble or whose livelihood is threatened by the Corona pandemic can submit a simple online application. In addition, those who would like to support the charity with a donation will find all the information they need at www.tsg-hilft.de.
Several clubs from the region have got in touch with TSG to express their gratitude for the support given: ''You have no idea how much you've helped us! I have goosebumps as I sit here at my desk writing about it. On behalf of everyone at TSG, and from me as an individual - thank you so much,'' wrote Heiko Riedle, board member at TSG 1891 Rinklingen.
The letter from Thorsten Maurer, chairman of SG Lobenfeld, is in many ways representative of those received from countless other clubs: ''Your 'TSG helps' campaign has allowed many small clubs to keep going through the Coronavirus crisis and made sure that the foundation for club sport remains intact.''
