Match against Besiktas abandoned due to bad weather
Head coach Julian Nagelsmann played the following starting eleven in the friendly: - Oliver Baumann, Pavel Kaderabek, Ermin Bicakcic, Sebastian Rudy, Lukas Rupp, Jonathan Schmid, Jeremy Toljan, Primin Schwegler, Steven Zuber, Andrej Kramaric and Sandro Wagner.
The team was set up in a 4-3-3 system – in front of Oliver Baumann, Jonathan Schmid, Ermin Bicakcic, Jeremy Toljan and Pavel Kaderabek made up the four-man defence. In midfield were Sebastian Rudy, Pirmin Schwegler and Lukas Rupp. Steven Zuber, Andrej Kramaric and Sandro Wagner started up-front. The system was not set in stone however, and seemed to shift quite often to a 4-2-3-1. When trying to regain possession of the ball, “Hoffe” also often operated a 4-1-4-1 system, with Pirmin Schwegler acting as the holding midfielder.
At the break, TSG made changes in seven positions – Terrazzino, Szalai, Uth, Hübner, Kim, Süle and Demirbay came on for Kramaric, Zuber, Wagner, Toljan, Bicakcic, Rupp and Schmid. Kerem Demirbay was forced to leave the field with an injury in the 50th minute – Baris Atik replaced him. Shortly afterwards, the game was abandoned.
Julian Nagelsmann: "Above all, it is a real shame for the players. We would have really liked to get through this friendly, but the risk of injuries was too high. In the first half, we played really well. Many things worked very well. That is a positive sign for the coming weeks. After the break, the pitch was unplayable because of the rain."
