REACTIONS TO THE GAME AGAINST BAYER LEVERKUSEN

Markus Gisdol: I was astonished to see a game like this played on the opening weekend. Both teams showed a lot of what was expected of them. There was nothing at all wrong with my team’s performance, so it’s a shame to come away empty handed. Especially in the first half we caused them real problems. After the break, Leverkusen were the better side and we kept losing possession too quickly. Bayer are brilliant going forward and they will always create chances. Based on the number of chances they created, they deserved the win.

Kevin Kurányi: In recent years I’ve become both older and more experienced, and the Bundesliga has improved in this time. I need to keep working hard in order to be able to help the team out better. There’s definitely room for improvement in that respect, as I want to play 90 minutes at some point. As a team, we were much better today than we were in Munich. The first 40 minutes in particular were really good. We have to build on that.
