1. FC Nürnberg match reaction
Markus Gisdol: That was a great performance from my side. We won the ball a lot in the first half and played it forward quickly. We were a bit jittery though after they pulled a goal back. The lads had fun out there today. We played simple combination football and could have been 3 or 4-0 up at half time. The win was important because it shows that we're on the right path.
Andreas Beck: We were very dominant in phases today. We want to keep that up over the next few games. Of course we know that Augsburg are really up for it. We've been in an automatic relegation spot for a while now and we're pleased that we can make it an exciting ending. We had already been written off last week.
Tobias Weis: We played a great game in a super atmosphere. We're doing a lot right under Markus Gisdol with the exception of last week and we're doing what's asked of us on the pitch. The win was massively important for our self-confidence. We would have scored three or four goals in the first half. That's the only downer from today, though we did have a few difficulties after their penalty. We're ready to pounce if the others slip up.
Kevin Volland: If we were a little more clinical we would have been more than 2-0 up. That way we wouldn't have had any nervous moments. We're enjoying our football and we're working hard in training. The football that we're playing suits us. Stefan Thesker and Patrick Schorr had a good game – a great debut. Patrick came on at 2-1 and was very calm. You can only respect that.
Michael Wiesinger: Hoffenheim did more running and won more balls. They're the virtues that you need. We we're missing them today. We can't play like we did at the start. Hoffenheim were much more committed and efficient. It was very much a deserved loss for us today.
Marvin Plattenhardt: We didn't put them under enough pressure at the start and we were too far away from our man. We were just chasing the ball and lacked the necessary concentration. We managed to get a goal back eventually but in the end it was too late.
Raphael Schäfer: Maybe some of us were still things about the derby defeats. A damper has been put on our otherwise great season in the last few weeks. We have to work together to stop that.
