Salihovic and Weis sign new deals
Bosnian midfielder Salihovic is one of 1899's longest-serving current players, arriving at the club in 2006 and helping it gain promotion to the Bundesliga in 2008. The 27-year-old has played a total of 181 games for Hoffenheim, scoring an impressive 47 goals.
Weis, whose previous contract was due to expire this summer, has been at Sinsheim since 2007 and has also contributed his share to the club's rise. The 26-year-old local boy has made 101 appearances in a TSG shirt, 75 of which have come in the Bundesliga.
By tying down two important first team players to long-term deals, the club has signalled its intentions for the future. Manager Markus Babbel said of the news, “Weis and Salihovic are two mainstays of our team and I'm happy that we have convinced them to sign. They are an important part of our future plans, but they also embody this club. The fans can identify with them and that is hugely important.”
