Obasi joins Schalke on loan

The Nigerian international striker signed for Hoffenheim, then in the 2. Bundesliga, from Norwegian outfit Lyn Oslo in the summer of 2007. He has become synonymous with the club's rapid ascent to the top tier, as well as its being crowned Autumn Champions in the 2008-09 season. He made over 100 goals for 1899, scoring 27 goals in the process.
He has been a Nigerian international since 2005 and has earned 21 caps for the Super Eagles.
